The 1st Workshop on School Health Textbook Translation
On March 19 and 20, 2026, we conducted the first training session of Phase 2 of the SHCC Project.
On Day 2, we held a full-day School Helth textbook translation workshop.
Our goal for three years from now is to establish a school health course within the lower secondary education program at Teacher Educartion College (TEC). To achieve this, we need to develop textbooks for school health subjects in addition to providing training for lecturers. School Health lecturers at TEC will translate manuscripts written by Japanese university professors collaborating with STEP and translated into English. The School Health lecturers who completed the five-year training program during Phase 1 of the SHCC project possess sufficient knowledge and skills in school health. For STEP, they also serve as co-creators of the textbooks.
We plan to hold this workshop three times this year. One of the goals of Phase 2 of the SHCC project is to complete nine school health textbooks within three years. While this is a high hurdle, we will work together with all stakeholders to achieve it.
