On May 27, 2026, the 1st STEP Steering Committee meeting was held in the conference room of the School Health Department at the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS), chaired by Her Excellency Dr. Kim Sethany, Permanent Secretary of State of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport. Attendees included representatives from the Department of Teacher Education and the School Health Department of the MoEYS, as well as the Teacher Education Colleges in Phnom Penh and Battambang. Mr. Arikawa, Executive Director of The Nippon Foundation, also participated online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The purpose of this meeting was to report on the progress made during the five-month period of Phase 2 of the SHCC Project, as well as to report on the achievements of Phase 1 of the project. During the meeting, participants engaged in a lively exchange of opinions and held important discussions aimed at strengthening collaboration and addressing challenges. These constructive discussions demonstrated that all stakeholders are deeply committed to ensuring the continuous and effective implementation of this project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although STEP is a very small NGO, this was a day that reaffirmed our determination to work toward achieving our major goal three years from now, in partnership with The Nippon Foundation, which provides tremendous support from Japan, and with the cooperation of the MoEYS and Teacher Education Colleges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While many challenges lie ahead, Her Excellency\u2019s words, \u201cPlease feel free to consult with me at any time,\u201d gave the STEP team a much-needed boost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second meeting is scheduled for November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
