During Phase 1 of the SHCC Project, the introduction of school health education into the primary school education program was completed at Phnom Penh Teacher Education College and Battambang Teacher Education College. As a result, approximately 300 graduates each year are now deployed across Cambodia as teachers who are able to teach school health.

In Phase 2, with the aim of developing teachers who can teach school health as a specialized subject at the lower secondary level in the future, STEP sets the goal of establishing a specialized school health course within the lower secondary school education program at Phnom Penh Teacher Education College and Battambang Teacher Education College.

Although this is an ambitious goal, STEP aims to obtain official agreement from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport of Cambodia for the establishment of the course by December 2028. With the support of The Nippon Foundation, STEP will take a leading role in working together with the Ministry of Education and teacher education colleges to move this initiative forward.
